March 13, 2020

Due to the evolving National Emergency related to the Coronavirus (COVID-19), the Mountain District Union program is taking the steps listed below, and continuing to monitor and review the situation as advised by the CDC, the PA Dept of Health, as well as our local school districts, PA West Soccer Association, United States Youth Soccer, and the United States Soccer Federation.
The health and safety of our players, coaches, parents, and referees are our highest priority.
At this time ALL MDU soccer activities are  cancelled for the month of March, and will resume no sooner than Wednesday, April 15, 2020.
Also at this time, there are no changes to the Spring 2020 season, however, this is subject to further review and change based on the situation as we approach the scheduled start dates.

Best Practices for Health:

There is currently no vaccine to prevent the Coronavirus. The best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed. Everyday preventive actions should be taken:

  • No pre-game or post-game handshakes, fist bumps, elbow bumps.

  • Limit the number of spectators to only immediate family members.

  • Follow the CDC directive for adults over 60 and those with underlying health conditions and remind them that attending a game is not in their health’s best interest.

  • Players should not share water bottles.

  • Players should not share snacks.

  • Players should not share goalkeeper gloves, jerseys or training vests.

  • Players or coaches who are ill should stay home.

  • Additionally, there are a number of different resources and communications from the CDC regarding the Coronavirus that you can watch HERE

For tips about talking with children about the COVID-19, please read this article from Psychology Today titled, "Coronavirus (COVID-19): What to Talk About with Your Child."

Our primary commitment and focus at all times is the health and safety of our Mountain District Union soccer community.

Sincerely,

MDU Advisory Board
